What if things didn't have to feel so hard?
What if challenges could be fun?
Let me tell you about my friend Morgan Jackson. Making heavy challenges feel light is her MO.
(Read to the end to find out how to make it your MO, too.)
For starters, Morgan is tough. She took on the 29029 Challenge – a quest to climb 29,029 feet (the height of Mount Everest) in just 36 hours.
But it’s not her physical stamina that sets Morgan apart. It’s the way she approaches difficult tasks.
We often approach the challenges that strengthen and define us as grueling ordeals.
Morgan follows the Light 56 Framework, which suggests we can approach those same challenges with a sense of play – as experiences to be enjoyed, not just endured.
“Light doesn’t mean living where nothing is dark, heavy or difficult,” Morgan explains. “Light means being surrounded by all those things and still being calm and grateful.”
In each lap of her climb, Morgan focused on a principle of her framework: Gratitude, Joy, Confidence, Calm, Progress, and Bright.
This not only kept her grounded, it spread to other climbers. As they passed, people would ask Morgan how she was doing, and she would relate her answer to that lap’s theme. Then she would ask them a themed question:
✨ “What are you grateful for on this lap?”
✨ “What’s bringing you joy today?”
✨ “What are you feeling most confident about?”
“These questions often sparked great, memorable conversations that continued or expanded the next time we crossed paths,” she says.
Community building can feel like climbing Mount Everest, too. But what if we approached it the way Morgan faced her mountain?
“I love how in our Hive community everyone is so authentic and willing to share their highs and lows,” she says. “In some communities there can be a tendency to lean all positive or all negative. I love the balance and alignment to real life that the Hive contains.”
Next week, Morgan will dive into her framework at a special free masterclass, and I’d be thrilled if you joined us.
“Doing Hard Things in a Light Way with Morgan Jackson” will take place Monday, Aug. 19, at 2 pm EST/11 am PST.
This event is open to everyone. If you’re not a member of The Hive, it’s a great opportunity to sample the insights and connections we make in our community.
Morgan will share how the Light 56 Framework helped her conquer the 29029 Challenge. In a mini-workshop, she’ll teach you to identify your own Everest and develop a plan to make progress feel lighter.
Whether you're trying to change the world or just engage your members, Morgan’s approach might be just the mindset shift you need.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
