When talking about communities, I like to distinguish between communities that are building FOR their members (many of the examples referenced above sound like that type) vs. communities that are building WITH their members. Personally I think the latter hold the biggest potential for collective impact and mutual benefit, however forces us to think about how we can facilitate active member participation and co-creation.

To your point on not building all at once, but rather starting with what serves my people best right now, I created a “Humans I Recommend” page on my website last year and it’s a constantly evolving page.

While not maybe “community” in the same sense of what was listed here I’ve seen people organically connect with one another from this page because I took the time to create it. The boomerang of connection has been truly beautiful 🥹
